Oscar & Mary Ann
Oscar grew up in Buenos Aires in an environment that is permeated by tango. His parents
were milonga organizers and teachers. Mary Ann has been dancing tango since the 90s.
They split their time between Toronto and Buenos Aires. In their most recent stay in Bs. As.,
they were teaching at El Beso, one of the most popular milongas in that city.
Tango is movement inspired by the music. It is a dance of possibilities. Driven by the
music, one spontaneously create figures that suit the mood and the environment, and in
one's own style.
In class, Oscar and Mary Ann work on different steps that can be applied to both close and
open embrace. These steps are completely adaptable to individual styles, and can be easily
incorporated into the dance with the objective of using them artistically to manoeuvre,
navigate, and interpret the music.
